End of the Week Round Up

We finished up Round 1 of our Seminars on Wednesday, did team building activities on Thursday and started Round 2 today.

We had to postpone our Water Quality Community Service activity due to weather related issues. We will be rescheduling that- as soon as we have a date pinned down it will be on the blog.

The filming of the promotional video has gone well. There were some great student, parent and staff interviews and many pictures taken. Everyone is anxious to see the final product!

Next week is a short week- there is no school on Friday, October 11  because of Parent / Teacher conferences in the morning and teacher in-service in the afternoon.

Parent / Teacher conferences are next week Thursday, October 10 from 3:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m and Friday, October 11 8:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.

Lumen Promotional Video

Today begins the filming of our promotional video for Lumen Charter High School. We are having the film made to better showcase what Lumen as a community and a school is all about. There will be student, staff and parent interviews conducted over the next three days. Film will also be taken of our water quality community service project. Once it is complete we will upload it to the blog, so keep an eye out for it!

Community Service Activity

This coming Thursday, October 3, all of Lumen Charter High School will be participating in a water quality community service activity. We are teaming up with the Green Lake Association, the League of Women Voters and the DNR to help educate the public about storm drains. People have a tendency to dump things like paint, paint thinner and used motor oil down storm drains. These toxins eventually drain into Green Lake. We will be  labeling the storm drains with signs and putting door knockers and fliers on as many houses as we can to educate as many people to this fact that we possibly can.

We plan on doing a team building activity for approximately 20 minutes right away in the morning before dividing into groups to cover different areas. We will be back in time for lunch at 11:55 a.m.  Please remind your child to wear comfortable shoes- they will be doing about 3 hours of walking- as well as comfortable clothing. Check the forecast, and when in doubt, layering is always your best bet.
