Today was the second round of WKCE testing. It went well. The next, and final, WKCE testing day is Tuesday, November 12.
We had teambuilding today. Our teambuilding plans were adjusted to accommodate the testing schedule. We played a game called “Two Truths and a Lie”. What the students do is write one sentence (along with their name) on an index card about something unique that happened to them. One of the cards is picked and a panel of three students (among them is the owner of the card) in front of the group, answer questions about the event on the card. The group then tries to discern who is telling the truth. The students always have a good time with this activity and learn a little bit more about each other.
Tomorrow is the first day of our new set of seminars. The next three are : “A World Waiting to be Reborn”, “Enlighten Me Ol’ Wise One”, and “”You Found Where?”. You can find descriptions of the seminars under the “Open House 2013” blog post.
Also tomorrow, a group of Lumen students will be participating in a community service activity called the “Barlow Park Project”. What the students will be doing is helping to label all of the books in the Barlow Park library with colored stickers so that our emergent readers at Barlow can tell what book is an appropriate reading level for them.
Finally, keep in mind that Parent / Teacher conferences are this Thursday, 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. A list of teachers and their room numbers will be in tomorrow’s blog.
