Some volunteers from the Lumen reading workshop did a read-aloud with the Cognitively Disabled students in Ripon High School — organized with the help of a UW-O masters student who is learning how to be a guidance counselor and wanted to do a project. It was very sweet — all the kids all really enjoyed it. The kids were great and did a really good job of rolling with the punches, like sitting on a swing to read and having the kid flip randomly through pages and point and squeal, demanding on-the-spot narration! Good times, lots of smiles. The kids want to do it again!
